Absolutely! The key to beautiful curbing is the smooth flow of lines and curves. Straight lines and sharp corners not only look unattractive, but they are also a nightmare to maintain. They can prevent proper drainage, and even worse, they make it almost impossible to mow your lawn easily. Even the most skilled operator cannot make straight lines look straight since the 200 lb machine that lays the curb is always moving. A flowing curb is essential for easy maintenance and must transition seamlessly into the next section. When evaluating curbing, keep an eye out for how the lines flow. A lack of flow is often a sign of an inexperienced operator. The flow of the curb is the first thing that catches your eye when you drive by, making it a crucial aspect of your home's curb appeal.
Our warranty on curbing is for 1 year, covering any issues related to workmanship. Concrete used in curbing cures quickly, so any problems will usually arise within the first 24 hours. Spider cracks are a common occurrence in concrete but let me assure you that we have not had any issues with them. If a crack appears and is wider than 1/4 inch, it's an operator error and will be fixed. However, cracks that occur due to heavy vehicles, mowers, natural causes such as tree roots, ground heaving, etc., will not be covered. It's common sense, if a car drives over landscape curb, it's unlikely to hold up! Spider cracks are a fact of life in concrete and may occur in certain situations. So, just be aware of this possibility.
It is absolutely essential that you mark all your sprinklers with either a flag or paint. If you fail to do so and we accidentally cut them in half while we cut the sod, we will not be held responsible. Therefore, it is your responsibility to ensure that your sprinklers are properly marked. Additionally, we require that you clear your driveway or the area on the street of any vehicles so that we have ample space to park our equipment. Thank you for your cooperation.
If you're constructing a new property and want to install curbing, we strongly recommend installing the sprinklers after the curb. This is the preferred method for most sprinkler companies, and it's easy to understand why. Working this way is easier and less complicated for both parties. Installing the sprinklers first can be problematic, resulting in uneven lines that make the whole area look untidy. Installing the curb first, on the other hand, allows the sprinkler team to place their heads right next to it, ensuring a smooth and seamless result.
If you already have a lawn, we tend to make nice lines outside of the heads. But don't worry, your heads will still function properly and spray over the curb as they should. Trust us - installing the curb before the sprinklers is the way to go.
A high gloss acrylic sealer is applied to all curbs that have color, whether they are stamped or not. This sealer brings out the color and makes it more vibrant, similar to how a clear coat brings out the grains in wood. It's important to note that water-based sealers do not work as well and should not be used on your curb. All sealers, regardless of type, will eventually need to be reapplied. When exposed to sunlight and UV rays, sealers break down over time, causing them to lose their luster. However, a fresh coat of sealer will darken your colors and make them look nice again. It's important to be wary of companies claiming to have a 10-year sealer, as this is unlikely and would be used by every concrete company if it were true. Simply put, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
We understand that your property is of utmost importance to you, and we want to assure you that our installation process won't cause any disruption to your existing landscape. Our machines are specially designed to leave your grass intact, and we take great care while trenching the area where the curb is laid, ensuring that the rest of the grass remains unaffected. We use a Piledriver with large trug tires to transfer the concrete, which eliminates any chances of damage to your property. Our concrete is mixed onsite, using a specialized trailer and mortar mixer, and your curb is extruded through a state-of-the-art curb machine. We are self-contained and don't require any resources from you, like water or electricity. Our process is designed to cause minimal disturbance to your property, and any leftover materials near your new curb or in the grass can be easily removed. Trust us to make your property look even better with our top-of-the-line curbing installation.
"Why are their prices lower than ours?" This is the question you should be asking. We have set the standard for pricing curbing. Other companies, unable to meet this standard, lower their prices to attract customers. It is quite simple - if you cannot offer what the best companies can, lower your price. Companies with no experience or knowledge of what they are doing can only resort to lower prices to attract customers and use their yard as a practice ground. So, be cautious while choosing such companies.
Curbing is a concrete product and if a curbing company says their curbing never cracks, they are simply not telling the truth. We have very minimal cracks, and we use the correct ratios and techniques when mixing concrete and finishing. Spider cracks can occur in concrete and must not be mixed up with separation. It would help if you remembered that cracks can and will occur in concrete. Many factors contribute to this including materials, layouts, and temps. The main issues with landscape curbing are EXTREME angles, inclines, and declines. You must realize that a curbing machine weighs approx. 210 lbs. so getting enough compression is extremely difficult in these situations. Cracks are concrete issues, they can and will happen. Cracks over 1/4 wide on level ground are an issue with operator error or lack of compaction, these cracks will be covered under warranty. Cracks in all other situations are not. We put the control joints closer to relieve stress, but cracks can occur, they are a fact of concrete life. We are dealing with moving concrete.
We put expansion joints approx. every 2 feet for the relief of stress in the concrete as it cures. These joints are no different than the cuts in sidewalks or driveways, we are essentially putting cracks in ahead of time so the curbing will expand there. If it does, then there may be a small crack that runs down the back or the front close to the ground. This DOES NOT mean the curbing has cracked, it means the control joints are doing their job and relieving stress.

It's important to understand that landscape curbing is not the same as the curbs you see in parking lots. Landscape curbing is designed to meet specific landscape needs, and therefore should not be compared to other types of curbing. The PSI varies depending on the type of sand used and the ratio of mixes, but most fall within the range of 2000 psi. Reinforcing landscape curbing with rebar is not an option. Instead, some people use cables to improve tensile strength, but we believe that using blended polymers and fiber is the best solution. This method not only improves tensile strength, but also compression strength.
If your yard already has grass and sprinklers, you can definitely have curb installed. However, there are some things that you should keep in mind. Retrofitting a yard with curb is a bit different from installing it from scratch. Usually, curb is installed before sprinklers and any rock or mulch, so that the curbers can create smooth lines without obstructions like sprinkler heads or other such obstacles. But since these things are already in place along with any plastic or brick edging, the curb must go outside these areas and create new lines. We, as curbers, don't move any rock or remove any existing edging to place the curb where the edging was before. These are things that a landscaper would typically do. As curbers, we can easily place the curb outside the sprinkler heads and ensure that it doesn't obstruct the spray, so that we can create smooth and beautiful flowing lines. Once the curb is in place, the space behind it can be filled with your preferred material. It's important to understand that this is being done in reverse order.
Attention all homeowners! Don't risk your home's safety by neglecting proper drainage when installing curbing. It is your responsibility to ensure that the company you hire takes care of drainage. Remember, every area that holds water must have a small "v" cut in the concrete. The drains around your house are specifically installed in areas where gravity takes water, and they must have a clear path of exit. If your spouts are not extended over the top of the curb, large amounts of water from the roof can accumulate and seep into the basement, causing serious damage. We urge you to take the necessary steps to prevent this from happening. We cannot be held responsible for any damage caused by homeowner or landscaper negligence. Remember, the 4-inch concrete dam will hold water, and if someone tells you otherwise, they are lying. If your curbing has long waves and curves, then drainage can be easily manipulated. Water will always settle at the bottom of a curve, so it's a perfect place to install a drain. Don't take any chances with your home's safety. Ensure proper drainage when installing curbing.
"We do have a minimum footage requirement for our curbing services. A normal curbing crew consists of 3-4 men, with a truck and a trailer carrying all the necessary equipment. We cannot travel across town to do a job that is only 20 feet long, as it would result in a loss for the company. Therefore, we currently have a minimum charge of $800 for our custom curbing services.
When it comes to tree rings, we need to ensure that they are large enough to accommodate tree growth years down the road. This requires a lot of effort and time. Therefore, we have set a minimum footage of 30 feet for tree rings. This will provide a diameter of at least 6 feet."
"We only provide curbing services and do not offer landscaping. Therefore, we do not remove rocks or old edging. However, we can recommend a company that can assist you with that. Our expertise lies in curbing, and we focus solely on providing exceptional curbing services. We believe in being the master of one rather than the jack of all trades."
We have a $800 minimum for any project we do.
As mentioned before, our company has a minimum charge of $800 for a property. This charge applies whether the damage to your property was caused by a skid steer running over the curb or someone stepping on it after installation. The reason behind this is that we have to bring in the same equipment and crew to repair a 10-foot section as we would for a 500-foot section.
